I think asharp is confused about the country or legal attache role in foreign countries. As Heisenberg correctly pointed out, agents, whether they are from the ATF, DEA, FBI, or USSS, act only as a liaison between the host nation and the U.S. for the purposes of coordinating intentional investigations where the U.S. is a party, or providing training, and exchanging intelligence regarding national security matters. Protecting embassies and embassy personnel is the responsibility of the State Department Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) and the USMC Marine Security Guards (MSG). I am also confused as to asharp's assertion that there is an "Oklahoma City cover up." Nor do I think that Senator Grassely and Congressman Issa (he is not a senator) will pay scant attention to the closure of the Bogota Office.
