They gave VOB a pass when she high centered her Jeep Grand Cherokee as the SAC of Phoenix right as she walked out the door. Turns out she fixed it, kind of, out of her own pocket and pawned it off on the DIO as she left for HQ. He's getting the vehicles oil changed and the mechanic advises that it has a cracked frame and has recently been in an accident. I didn't know you could crash a g-ride and not report it. I guess if your a SAC who has just been promoted you are allowed to fix it on your own dime and it doesn't count as a wreck. Joe Gordon knows about this. Oh yeah, he did the same thing in Atlanta. IA gave him a pass. Never mind.
For the level of abuse of a G ride by this senior manager, I would think demotion, transfer, (time on the beach), just like the worker bees get. We'll see. Has anything occurred to the manager who destoyed the hotel room and defiled the plywood hole? I heard work out of the house. Not a bad gig. Again no demotion? Guess George Gillette should be a little upset about his punishment. The was no lumber involed and no vacations in the G ride. Just subordinate females and female informants.

Russel Vanderwerf, the DIO who was arrested in New Orleans, currently works from his home in the same position. WOW what a punishment.I guess there's no law against defacing your own property! Mr. Melson, we (field, staff, management, congress, appropriations committee, the nation) are watching!

We are hopeful that Mr. Melson will get ONE right. However, He did promote Mark Potter after the debacle with Truscott and ordering and driving a 2010 cadillac on tax payer dollars. Same with ASAC Nichols. Do these SES posers understand Public trust and leadership by example? Especially when agents are driving either unserviceable vehicles or attempting to do surveillance in a fleet of Crown Vic police cars.

Well, well. It's high time IA looked into this brazen abuse of the public trust by David Strotheide! How can anyone get away with using a G-ride for personal travel and maintain their employment? Strotheide thought he was so valuable to the agency that nobody would notice the personal travel of thousands of miles using a G-ride and government gas! Well he needs to think again. ATF Agent Marvin Love was in Little Rock and used his G-ride to check on rental property in a nearby town. Marvin was fired! You can read all about the court case by doing a Google on Marvin Love if you want. The point is that Strotheide should be treated the same way S/A was treated. What if Strotheide had wrecked his G-ride and killed an innocent family while on his vacation junket in the unauthorized G-ride? Who would have covered that? The SAC may still weigh in on this one. If Strotheide gets away with this, then we should all be able to use the G-ride for vacation travel with no fear of punishment! Mr. Melson, please show the public that ATF is serious about dealing with the flagrant abuses committed by David Strotheide! Everyone is waiting and watching!

Webmaster Note: A little birdie tells us that the following information is "very very reliable and can be confirmed", and asked us to post it:

"Reliable sources indicate that because of numerous complaints, Internal Affairs is (finally) investigating the DIO of the New Orleans Field Division, David Strothiede, for his flagrant use of his G-ride. Evidently, Strothiede was using a government vehicle (and ATF gas) to travel at will for personal reasons, including vacations. What would happen if this was just a street agent? Wonder if this will be minimized or excused by 99 New York Ave?

Keep an eye on this one, if he gets away with it, we all should get to do the same.

Mr. Melson...We are watching."

Report it. He/she can't get a pass if field agents don't.

The senior manager deserves no less than the proposal of termination. A senior special agent who was a very experienced and dedicated undercover agent was accused of misusing his G-ride ON ONE OCCASION. They threw on more false allegations to spice it up and even included false statements from local police. The agent pulled himself together and interviewed the same officers and found out that IA laced his report with false statements. Well, he won the case with that discovery but he still had to sit for 2 years with a proposal of termination for one allegation of misusing that car. Surely Melson will want to be FAIR. But don't hold your breath - this guy is a favorite. WE ARE WAITING MELSON - JUST GIVE US ONE MORE COMPARABLE!!!
